Stepping Beyond Quantum Theosophy
Introduction: Stepping Into the Quantum Woods
While journeying in the realms of quantum woods, some common patterns have been showing up that I will like to address.
Patterns the subtly shape our agency, mental clarity and freedom to perceive and act in the world.
This goes beyond whether science terms are used accurately or not.
Welcome to the church of quantum theosophy.
Where inspiration turns into doctrine and you are invited to connect with a higher truth for your own healing™️.
There is something fundamental that is hidden, it requires your massive resources to uncover it and there is a higher figure which has already attained it and can pass to you what you seek.
If we remove all the quantum fluff what we are typically being asked to do is adopt a new grand-narrative as belief system which is emotionally attached to our need for transformation. And this gets supported with scientific terminology to convince us this is actually the world of reality.
The Effects On Our Agency
The question to consider then is that when we jump from one grand-narrative to another and between different hierarchical systems, when do we get the chance to consider our own options?
Fundamentally what many of these systems do is to repackage hierarchy, hidden knowledge & magical thinking, sprinkled with a quantum glow and a faux validity through the use of science.
We give up the freedom to choose narratives that might suit us better at different moments. We become dependent to the doctrine.
Blurred Lenses: Belief Systems vs Belief Frameworks
Having the ability to shifts our perspectives as we wish marks the difference between belief system and belief framework, and from power dependent change to agency driven change.
Statements like "the quantum field is conscious and watching you" are actually problematic from that angle.
And if we go a bit philosophical the arguments between different models of consciousness like panpsychism, dualism and monism are kinda nonsensical because they compare apples to oranges by only using the word "fruit", sorry I meant consciousness.
On top of that mixing interpretative frameworks (e.g. science and spirituality) without clear distinctions blurs our sense of reality and the mental tools that are best for us to use in different circumstances.
Shall We Throw It All Away? No
Despite all that, many times people have amazing experiences from these systems. And if something exists and in popular in the world after all it satisfies a need that is already there. Shall we then negate it?
Not at all. This is something that serves some people according to where they are.
And if there is something to keep from science overall is there are different descriptions of the world valid at different scales. Different theories for different applications.
The Call for Something New
And from that perspective I do believe that something new needs to be created, something that fills the gap between clinical facilitation and pseudoscientific theosophy, something that has the power of scientific description but not the pretence of an absolute truth. Something which turns the mystical into the poetic, allows for an equally powerful facilitation and ultimately, puts the power back to you.
